Grekaddict is an online travel marketplace that promotes tourism activities offered by small local businesses in Greece. The user can easily get informed about the offered activities, schedule his experience and pay it online! Our goal is to start from Northern Greece and within one year spread all over the country. We aim to bring to the surface many small tourism businesses which offer unique experiences, by connecting them with online users.

The user can easily get informed about the offered activities, schedule his experience and pay it online! Our goal is to start from Northern Greece and within one year spread all over the country. We aim to bring to the surface many small tourism businesses which offer unique experiences, by connecting them with online users.
What we do for the activity providers: first we do the activity, we check the quality, we create a tailor made content free of charge (video, photo, blogpost) and promote it via our website and influencers.
What we do for the visitor: we help him discover genuine greek experiences that local companies offer, we provide him with all the necessary information about the activity, he can schedule and book the activity on our safe on-click marketplace.
What problems are you helping to solve?
We are a start up team based in Thessaloniki, the co-capital of Greece, and both of us have been working in tourism for more that 4 years. For a long time our tourists used to ask us “What to do in Thessaloniki?”, and we wondered “why do they ask us and they don’t just google it?”. Until one day we searched ourselves, and we were baffled!!! In the first pages, we only found results from multinational corporations (eg tripadvisor, viator, lonely planet etc) and very fiew websites of local activity providers. In conclusion, for Northern Greece there in no Travel Experience Marketplace that helps visitors discover and book local experiences. The problem is not only from the aspect of tourists, but from the aspect of activity providers too. Most of the times, they do not maintain any good existence on web, with nice and proper content, let alone online booking feature which results in poor sales.
What is your solution?
Grekaddict, is here to offer the solution. We discover local activity providers that offer experiences in the region of Northern Greece. We help them to create rich content, we add them at our own website and finally, help them raise their sales.
On the other hand, regarding the visitors of Northern Greece, he can get inspired and informed about the available travel experiences, and moreover, he schedule and pay in few clicks.
Finaly, while working on our start up, we had the chance to speak with many hotels in the city for collaboration. The feedback we got was surprising! “Grekkaddict.com is the ideal tool for our front end managers! They lose so much time answering to questions such as “What to do in Thessaloniki?” or “How can i book this tour?”. Now, by using your website they can demonstrate to the clients the available options, and book immediately or if the client needs time to think of it, he knows that he can book it even himself! ” ( That’s a real feedback from Polis Luxury Apartments and Rooms)
What is the social impact of your social solution and how it can be measured?
We aim to help local activity providers of Greece to raise their sales while giving them the opportunity to reach more visibility on our website. This can be measured by the raise of their revenues coming from sales from grekaddict.
Who are your main competitors and how does your solution differ?
Our main competitors are big multinational companies such as Viator, Get Your Guide, Do it with Locals and Tripadvisor. But, we differ from each of them!
On Viator you can find only few activities regarding Northern Greece with poor content. It is pretty the same with the rest of Greece.
On Get Your Guide or Do it with Locas, one can find only guided tours either by licensed guides or just locals. There are no options for other activities such as cruises, watersports, extreme sports etc.
On Tripadvisor you can find more results, but Tripadvisor does not offer online booking. It leads you to the website of the provider, who most of the times these websites doesn’t offer online booking.
Finaly, there are some other greek companies offering travel experiences with online booking, but they require for both activity providers and tourists first register and then proceed to add/ buy activity. That is time-consuming, and it makes the booking process long story. We know that it very annoying and prevents both providers and tourists to use that kind of websites.
Our start up, Grekaddict.com, is filling all the above gaps. We offer rich content with all the necessary information (blogpost, photo, video, reviews) , big variety of activities to do, we are local which means we know better the greek travel market, and of course, we have easy, safe and quick online booking!
Please, explain your business model and how is your revenues connected to the social impact?
Grekkaddict’s business model is based on commissions. We take 20% commission per activity sale. Given that we support mostly small local activity providers, consequently we help them raise their online visibility and sales.
Please indicate your timeline and milestones
January 2018 -October 2018: operate in Northern Greece, sell more than 8000 activities , generate over 50.000 euro revenue, construct in-house marketplace.
October 2018- March 2019: expand to Attica and west of Greece, sell more than 15.000 activities , generate more than 100.000 euro revenue,
March 2019- Octomber 2019: expand all over Greece, get in airtickets booking engines, sell more than 30.000 activities, generate more than 250.000 euro revenue.
October 2019: Expand to another country.
What is your go to market strategy
From the very beginning, before even the official registration of the company, we have collaborations with apartment management companies and small hotels in Thessaloniki. Further, we will invest money in Social Media campaigns, Google adwords and Influencers to reach the visitors of Northen Greece while they already here on vacations. Foreign travel agencies that seek to create unique tours with a combination of our daily activities are also one channel. Fairs, cold email and calls are some of our tool to reach them. Finally, after reaching the whole Greece, our goal is to get in the air tickets booking engines (eg. skyscanner) .
