Frequently Asked Questions – Answers for the Aegean Startups Competition

According to the submission form, you will once submit your proposal to the Aegean Startups system, deciding which thematic category is most important for you.

Then, with an email at aegean-startups@aegean.gr you will inform us that your idea (with the code and the submission details) can be included in the 2nd thematic category that you believe, for the Evaluation Committee to take into account.

The use of the English language in the case of logos, promotional material (such as video) and the use of scientific or special international terms, where required, is perfectly acceptable.

Yes. Those who attend or have completed a program of the Training and Lifelong Learning Center of the University of the Aegean are considered students or graduates respectively. .

Yes, they can also be sums of money. The prizes of the competition per category will be announced during the competition. You can see more information about the awards here.

No, this is up to the candidate team to decide.

Each candidate can participate in a maximum of two proposals – groups.

Candidates from all three categories can participate in the competition alone, individually or in groups.

Of course. The participating groups may consist of (1) members of the University Community of the University of the Aegean, (2) members outside the University Community of the University of the Aegean but (3) and a combination thereof. The first teams will receive 2,500 euros, while other prizes are expected which will be sported along the way. Distinguished ideas will also be promoted for further support to incubators or financial institutions.

No copyright or other rights need to be secured before or after the submission of business ideas. The submission of the idea to Aegean Startups can of course be useful in case of further actions for the securing of any intellectual property (it is a presumption). The elements that are in common view (summary of the idea) are not usually elements of intellectual property.

If your idea meets a business need, it simply increases the chances of finding a more immediate application when implemented. However, its implementation is your responsibility. Aegean Startups will contribute with mentoring but also with publicity or other support, depending on the level of distinction of the idea.

On the platform, you can register, submit a first version of the idea, and request partners in the third step of submitting your idea.

It is allowed to participate and submit in the competition of business ideas that are at a very early stage (general description), at a stage of prototyping (functional prototype) or even if the business idea has been put into operation. Typically, however, the competition mainly concerns companies that are at an early stage.
